    About Me

    I have spent more than 25 years living and working in southern Europe: on Cyprus, and in Spain and Italy. My book, The Spaniards, won the Allen Lane Award for a best first work of non-fiction. It has since twice been updated, most recently in 2006. I am currently Italy correspondent for The Economist and Southern Europe editor for the Guardian.
